Relay for Life: September 16, 2011

  • In the spring of 2011, St. Mike's held a school-wide assembly, hosted by Ms. Brown and Mr. Finner, to announce the school's intention to organize another Relay for Life cancer fundraiser.  As a way to inspire the students to participate in the fall, the following video was played to educate the student body about the Mustang tradition of completing charitable works:

Fighting Cancer at St. Mike's from Mr. C. Finner on Vimeo.

  • To better explain how a Relay for Life works, the students also viewed the following video from the Canadian Cancer Society:

  • Our students also viewed Ms. Brown's very sobering slide show to better understand the seriousness of the problem:

  • Additionally, our students also watched this Cancer Society message to explain why we fight:

UPDATE:
Here is how it all turned out:

St Michael CHS Relay For Life a Huge Success

On Friday September 16, St. Michael Catholic High School hosted a Relay for Life event.
It was a great success! More than 200 students participated in the event while another 40 people (students, staff members, family, friends and community members) volunteered.
Despite the unseasonable chilly night, all had a super time while staying focused on our goal: raising money for Cancer Research.
To date we have raised just under $30,000.00 with more pledges still coming in.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Kemptville companies/organizations that supported our Relay for Life event, by donating food, prizes for games, transportation of our stage, etc. We very much appreciate your generosity!
Congratulations St. Mike's!
